How to request a CHTC account

  1. Fill out the account request form. Tell us about the computing work you want to do to the best of your knowledge.
  2. You will receive an automated email from chtc@cs.wisc.edu within a few hours of completing the form.
  3. Wait 2-3 business days for a follow-up from CHTC Facilitation Staff. Contact us at chtc@cs.wisc.edu if you don't hear from us after 3 business days.
    • If you are part of a new research group, we will first schedule a meeting with you to understand your computational needs before creating your account.
    • If you are part of an existing research group, we will create a new account. We don't require a meeting, but highly recommend meeting with us, especially if you are new to research computing!

Who is eligible for a CHTC account?

To apply for a CHTC account, you must:

  1. Be a UW-Madison affiliate (faculty, staff, graduate, undergraduate, or approved external collaborator).
  2. Use CHTC resources only for research or approved courses.
  3. Have a faculty sponsor. This is typically the Principal Investigator (PI) of your research group or your course instructor.

External collaborators

UW-Madison faculty members can sponsor accounts for external collaborators (including graduating students). Faculty members must email us at chtc@cs.wisc.edu with the following information:

  1. Name of external collaborator
  2. Reason for (continued) access to CHTC resources.
  3. Length of time to sponsor the account (up to 1 year, can be renewed)
  4. City/country of residence of external collaborator
  5. Institution of external collaborator

Use CHTC for a course

Do you need computing for your class? We can provide class accounts and support your class with guest presentations. Instructors should email us to inquire about how we can support your class!
